Hands down on one of our favorite varieties in the world, carignan has been in Chilean viticulture for over seven decades. This expression from Gustavo Martinez comes from just outside of his hometown in southern Chile. Half of the grapes go through carbonic maceration and the rest spend time in old native Chilean oak (does not impart any flavor) before being rested for eight months to smooth the tannins.”
