Kakheti, Georgia— Black tea-like tannins, chalky with notes of fresh apricot, peach and an earthy floral element. This wine is 100% Kisi, a cross between Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane. Anapea Village is run by a husband and wife team, Khatia and Gocha in eastern Georgia. They started their vineyard in 2013 in Kakheti and farm organically, only planting indigenous varieties.
The Kisi ferments and macerates on the skins for 7 months in the classic Georgian qvevri, and then ages for an additional 6 months in a qvevri buried deeper in the ground to provide a cooler temperature to stabilize the wines. Unfined, unfiltered, no added sulfur.
