Organic/Natural. The base of The Wine in the Box red (approximately 60%) is a bright and salty co-ferment of red andwhite grapes -- Macabeo, Garnatxa Blanca, Garnatxa Negra, Syrah, Cabernet, Carinena, and Garnatxa Peluda -- pressed directly (no maceration) and fermented together in stainless steel tank. Essentially, this is a clarete or colorful rose, which is then blended with a red wine of Garnatxa Negre and just a touch of Syrah and Merlot, for a little punch of color. All grapes are farmed organically, de-stemmed, then fermented in stainless steel. The red wine component had a brief maceration of 12 days.
