Hérault, France— Incredibly delicious dark rosé / light red made from a field blend from two tiny, organically-farmed parcels planted in 1946 and 1957. Grapes include Aramon, Alicante Bouschet, Cinsault and well as lesser known Occitane varietals. Slow direct press puts this one in the dark rosé / light red direction— fresh, zippy raspberry, strawberry, watermelon, grapefruit, dried herbs, limestone, with some delicate floral overtones. Crushable but complex! Hailing from the village of Clairac in the Hérault department of Occitanie (Southern France), not far from Axel Prüfer in the Orb Valley, La Marotte is the 4-hectare-large brainchild of Julie Thelen and Xavier Auboux. No S02.
