NYC sommelier and wine industry veteran Kirk Sutherland started Erde Wines in 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic and unprecedented wildfires in the Pacific Northwest. Maybe it wasn’t the smartest time to start a new business, but here we are.
“After having worked several harvests in Oregon, learning the ropes from my friends at Division Winemaking Company and Day Wines, I figured it was time to press my luck and try making a little wine for myself. I wanted to start with modest beginnings, producing about 250 cases of wine and cider, sourced from thoughtfully farmed vineyards and an untouched orchard. With these bottlings, I hope to create something unexpected, yet approachable, but most importantly delicious.”
Cloudbusting is a sparkling fruit wine made from Zephyr Farms heirloom apples and pears, fermented with grape skins and must. Unfined and unfiltered, with no added sulfur.
