Fawn Weaver created the Uncle Nearest label to honor Nearest Green, the first known African-American master distiller who taught Jack Daniels how to distill. As Uncle Nearest Distillery gets underway, they have released a line of sourced whiskies that undergo maple charcoal filtration.
Each small batch of this whiskey involves a descendant of Nearest Green in the blending process, featuring the signature of that descendant on the bottle. Bottled at 93-proof and aged a minimum of 7 years, this batch is mild and light with notes of spice and butterscotch and a touch herbs and green apples. Try it in an Old Fashion!
