New York wine has a lot of promise and is often overshadowed by other regions. We are excited to see this completely natural expression of Riesling from the Finger Lakes that challenges how we normally imagine this variety.
The Barbichette Le Blanc Riesling is all Biodynamically grown fruit from Seneca Lake. The grapes are handpicked fruit, gently crushed, soaked overnight and then aged in a combination of foudre and composite eggs. Unfined, unfiltered, no SO2, 550 cases produced.
A pale straw color with flecks of green, this dry, crisp riesling tastes of sliced green apple, white peach, fresh squeezed key lime juice with hints of lemon verbena and a touch of salt. Classic riesling acidity and a stony minerality complements bright notes of stonefruit, it shows a whole breadth and depth of flavors that riesling has the capability of delivering. Le Blanc has a roundness in the wine that rarely finds its way into a riesling structure.
The duo behind Barbichette first started in coffee. César Vega and Louisiane Remy are the masterminds behind Cafe Integral.
