A savory and complex wine from Somló, a small appellation that was the site of an ancient underwater volcano. This is the last vintage of Hárslevelű from Bela Fekete and is a very special wine indeed. 90 something years old, Fekéte still farms his 4 hectares of vines that have a secret garden character to them. He is known as "the grand old man of "Somló." Unctuous, bergamot tea, dried mango, smoke, flint, salt, honey with an indescribable earthy note. A whole lot going on for a hell of a price. This wine loves food--anything salty and umami.
