Kamptal, Austria — Cristoph Heiss is farming 12 hectares of vines in eastern Kamptal. His side project Malinga focuses on wines made with minimal intervention and low sulfur additions. This is 100% Gruner Veltliner grown on loess soil, hand-harvested and aged on the lees for about 500L in neutral oak barrels. The Gruner goes through malolactic fermentation and is bottled unfined/unfiltered.
A complex Gruner with lots of texture. Medium bodied with good acidity and a mineral backbone. The wine has aromas of herbs and pollen with pear on the palate.
