Languedoc, France— Méharée, which in French, evokes images of long expeditions in the desert on camelback, is a nod to Perrine’s journey from north of the Loire all the way south to the Roussillon, which she has called home since 2020. A blend of Syrah from 10 yo vines planted on clay- limestone soils (50%) and Grenache Noir (30%) and Carignan (20%) from 80 yo goblet-trained vines rooted in limestone bedrock. A super elegant, textured fuller bodied red! Medium-full bodied, with a fluid mouthfeel and delicate tannins. Dark cherry, waxy black plum, currant, dried herbs, with subtle baking spice, clove etc. Low S02.
Perrine Loeuilleux moved to the small but vibrant winemaking village of Calce (which hosts Matassa, Padie, La Spanda etc) in 2020, and now farms two hectares of vines. Her vines are close to the ocean, and she’s very much inspired by the water.
