A spirit that puts blood orange to the forefront, a fruit that is only available a few times a year. Matchbook Distilling meticulous attention to detail is what makes their spirits so special. Each step of the process is approached with intention including where each ingredient is sourced. First it starts with their neutral spirit which is distilled from organic corn grown in the Finger Lakes. Blood orange peels and pulp macerate for several weeks, is then strained, followed by adding botanicals and spices. Pink peppercorns, wild cherry bark, cardamom, and cinnamon to name a few of the botanicals.
This is a fun spirit to experiment with and it's so tasty I don't think there could be any botched experiments. Would do nicely in any cocktail that calls for Campari or Aperol. Tastes great on its own with a splash of soda or to spice up some sparkling wine.
