A singular Georgian red made with Budeshuri Saperavi without skin maceration that matures for half a year in quevri and is then topped off with Saperavi making it a light, but savory red. This is a wine that prompts conversation. Tart brambly berries, wild strawberry, herbs, and cinnamon, and black pepper with balanced acidity. Chill this baby down, perfect for brisk weather.
Zurab Mgvdliashvili established a small marani in his familial village of Kardenakhi as an homage to his grandfather Nikalas Marani who made wine during the Soviet era. He was able to purchase enough plots to dedicate himself to winemaking, only producing enough that he still has control over. His wines have a ton of character and taste distinctly hand crafted.
