Vino del contadino--wine for everyday consumption. Slightly effervescent upon opening with blackberry notes and dusty tannins. Super fun and tart with earthy hints on the tail.
Comprised of Cesanese, a local variety, grown at 350 meters above sea level on a scraggy, nearly inhospitable volcanic terrain. These wines weren't bottled until the importer found them. They were selling "sfuso", direct from the steel tanks into whatever container the locals brought to fill them up.
